Elephtonin Migration - Anything 2ndJan-Edit

This is a more refined version of a previous story :  I need a story title he said. It can literally be 'anything', he told the boy. And so it was. An idea filled the space where words could be conjured, inspired by the world around or something not so visible. For example, an elephant with six legs, four tusks and two trunks could fill that idea 'space' perfectly.  The idea of elephants in space is a metaphysical anomaly, an odd juxtaposition of words, formed through desperation to find a subject for a story using words that sprouted from an innocuous thought. The elephant above was called Billy, and he liked eating cheese. A fact that has no relevance in this story that is largely about space. Some of the following points may be obvious, so I apologise for any 'mansplaining' that follows, which I understand is highly disapproved of. However, the true meaning of the term eludes me so I will say what I will. Then you can tell me if it fits the bill after you...

From Small Perspectives - Big 29th Dec 2025

The Departure All size and all things are relative, the antling, Glorty, was told by his uncles as the boy gazed up at the huge blades of grass that stretched upwards towards the blue sky. The grass swept the sky back and forth, hypnotically moving with each breath of the wind. To the antling, this only meant one thing: life wasn't fair. Why should he be forced to live in a world obscured by tasteless grass? He'd been to the top of the blades many times. He knew there was a bright, unrestricted world around their underground home. He couldn't help but want more, but he knew his limitations. While his perception of the world was little more than viewing life through a pixelated phone screen set to the lowest resolution, which to him was no better than a rough grid of blurry dots, he was happy with it as he knew no different. He was able to recognise nearby motion and shapes to allow him to find his way without bumping into much. However, distant details smeared into vagu...

Elephtonin Migration - Anything - 27-28 Dec 25

I need a story title he said. It can literally be 'anything', he said to the boy. And so it was. An idea filled space where words could be conjured, inspired by the world around or something not so visible. An elephant with six legs, four tusks and two trunks. A metaphysical anomaly that comes from the formation of words sprouting from an innocuous thought. The elephant's name was Billy, and he liked eating cheese. A fact that has no relevance in this story about spaceships. Outer space freight trains that took the bodies of senile pachyderms from one side of the galaxy to another. Elephtonin was extracted from the elephants' brains to be used in advanced AI. A substance prized for its ability to remember information and instructions, the process determined by the industrialists for the most effective results required the extract to be fresh, hence the need to transport the elephants rather than extract it first. Their senility was a sign that the elephant's br...

The Hazard Light 17th Nov - 26th Dec 2025

Blinking, blinking, blinking. A hazard light is a fairly standard feature on a car, van, or lorry. People activate them when their vehicle could present a danger to other road users, have you heard about the one that got bored?   On a chilly winter night, the snowflake symbol appeared on the dashboard as the driver and passengers of the little grey car headed down the motorway. The steady thrum of tyres on asphalt filled the cabin as frozen flakes dusted the windscreen, swirling in the weak glow of the headlights.   There was a clunk, a whirring sound, and finally a rattle from the front of the car. After the noise came a gentle shudder as the car began to slow. The driver muttered angrily under their breath, turning the wheel to guide the vehicle to the roadside to bring it to a stop, but couldn't make it all the way there so it was half-on half-off the hard shoulder. A click was followed by the occupants hurrying themselves out, as the hazard light came alive....

Tales of Whymsy - Mayor Bastien's Sugarsweet Makeover 17/12/25- 25/12/25

In the land of Whymsy lies the town of Sugarsweet, where rivers flow with melted marshmallow and the townspeople work hard to ensure there's enough sweets for stockings at Christmas.   Bastien's Strange Morning   That morning, Bastien, Mayor of Sugarsweet, awoke. He dressed in his mayoral garb, stepped onto the balcony, and leapt off. He welcomed the cool morning air as it rushed against him, chilling his skin and waking him up fully. He caught sight of the morning sun glinting off glazed windows around him as he sank beneath the iced gingerbread rooftops.  At the bottom he plunged deep into a ginormous jelly bowl, which had been placed there by an official decree. The jelly caught him in suspension above the ground, cushioning his fall and surrounding him in a sweet berry scent. With glee he took bite after bite out of the gloopy, nutritious jelly around him until he was full. Once he'd had enough he swam to the edge and climbed out.   Warlie and Chon...
