Threadbare Ted
Threadbare Ted of many years,
Sent wherever fortune steers,
To a basket of arms, be plucked and curled,
The lead subject of stories told and twirled.
A simple wish: to be held skewiff,
At an angle that would scare most stiff
While jostled, tumbled, dragged straight through
Mud, and dust, and water too.
Yet never once did Teddy grumble:
Along each pathway he’d be trundled,
For while his stitched-up heart still beat,
The world was wide, and life was sweet.
